When Belgium experienced its last full solar eclipse in 1999, the horn players of the Korpus Quartet had only just seen the light. In its brand new concert programme ECLIPS, this young group explores this fascinating interplay of light and dark. With Kristina Mascher-Turner as horn soloist, they perform contrasting works by Robert Schumann and Dmitri Shostakovich, among others, that take the audience to the brightest and darkest places of the universe and the human soul. They discover the twilight zone in between in an arrangement of L'Ascension, Olivier Messiaen's meditation on the Christian feast. In this programme, even more than its religious content, the work carries a promise of caring for our living world.
